Update from Mason's latest annual Cardiology appointment
(From his Cardiologist Dr. Carlson)

He goes to the Cardiology Clinic annually for a followup on his Coarctation of the Aorta & Bicuspid Aortic Valve, due to being born with a critical Coarctation of the Aorta. An Echocardiogram was performed, demonstrating no residual or recurrent Coarctation of the Aorta. There is a Bicuspid Aortic Valve without stenosis or insufficiency. There also is a tiny patent foramen ovale. The chamber size, wall thickness & systolic function are normal! (Praise the Lord!) Dr. Carlson is thrilled at how Mason is doing from a cardiac standpoint. He will continue with yearly followups in the cardiology clinic Children's Mercy Hospital. He currently does not have any activity restrictions, though does tire easy. In the future Mason will likely do a cardiac MRI, to image his aorta in a slightly different way & also an exercise stress test. The earliest that will be considered would be at the age of 8 or older, so that he can cooperate with the stress test, etc.

Mason's Diagnosis from Dr. Carlson:
* Critical Coarctation of the aorta, status post neonatal repair.
* Bicuspid aortic valve without stenosis or insufficiency
* Tiny patent foramen ovale.

What a blessing to have such a great report from Dr. Carlson, who we adore as Mason's Cardiologist!!
